As as step towards integrating the Ventra Card digitally into the smartphone world of tap and pay, the card needed to adapt and become a direct extension of the updated refresh. The card design was refined from the current tangible card to provide a special and sleek introduction into the digital realm.

The card was showcased in the Spring 2019 Apple Keynote to promote the new Apple Pay functionality.

Ventra needed a brand refresh and an education and awareness campaign to inform riders of upcoming changes to their Ventra cards. The new Ventra Card design inspired the marketing campaign that transformed the card elements into some of Chicago’s iconic landmarks.

The card refresh design used the triangle shape in order to help visualize movement and the Ventra Logo. The pattern and shades of blue was inspired by a part of Chicago, Lake Michigan.

An alternate direction was proposed moving the brand from a heavy vector based brand towards photography. This campaign was based on a more humanistic approach with inspiring and dreamy undertones that connect people to their aspirations and goals.
